Arjac Rockfist kit-bash #7 - This time with his Shieldbrothers ?

Image
So when you put together a unit called Arjac's Shieldbrothers, it would be a little remiss to build Arjac, and totally forget to mention his brothers. So here is the beginnings of the unit.   It was a good break from the Land Raider, and terminators are quite easy to paint up.   Primer - Vallejo Light Grey Polyurethane Base - Vallejo Game Air Sombre Grey Black-lining wash for the panel lines. Zenithal Highlight - Vallejo Game Air Wolf Grey   Pelt base - Vallejo Game Air Bonewhite   Hammers - Airbrush transition: Vallejo Game Air Imperial Blue, Vallejo Game Air Magic Blue, Vallejo Model Color Azure, with edge highlight of Vallejo Model Color White & Vallejo Game Air Electric Blue 3:1 mix, respectively.   Now I have to go back in and ink the pelts, graduating black at the center, to brown, then highlighting the edges with either Vallejo Game Air Dead Flesh or GW Rakarth Flesh mixed with white.   Next, edge the Armor with Vallejo Model Colo

It has been a busy day, priming and base coats on Arjac's Land Raider and Dagr got base coated too. Vallejo Light Grey Primer, Vallejo Game Air Sombre Grey, Vallejo Game Color Wolf Grey Highlights, with Vallejo Game Color Brass. Vallejo Game Air Dwarven Flesh is the base for the skin, Vallejo Game Air  Bonewhite on the furs and hair.

The day has come, the first paint have been laid down. And it's all down-hill form here ? The base primer was Vallejo German Grey Polyurethane primer, the Vallejo Game Air Sombre Grey. The interior was then painted with Vallejo Game Color Pale Grey Blue. hen my black lining wash was applied.     The interior base colors on the engine (apologies no the best photo)

In Heresy, a Legion Centurion Consul can be upgraded to a Chaplain. More importantly, Frodr the Learned will be my Legion Wolf Priest, wearing artificer armor and armed with a plasma pistol and Crozius Arcanum       Between Dagr and Frodr, the Rout will prevail.

Introducing my Space Wolf Legion Praetor, Dagr, in Cataphractii armor, Paragon Blade and Combi-weapon.   As you can tell, this is based from Captain Streloc Aetheon. from the Betrayal at Calth Starter set. Combi-weapon was swapped out for a Emperor's Champion blade and re-positioned, after removing the chainfist.     Fetishes were added from the Space Wolves set.

I was asked if I could give a better view of the Land Raider from different angles. So here you go. Note the rubber bands are in place whilst the glue is drying.

Assault Ramp and dry fit complete!! This marks a huge milestone in this project, as it now means I can give the beast a wash of soapy water, and send it to my airbrush booth! I ended up using parts from the Storm Wolf to create the assault ramp. It ended up looking like fangs, so I kept it how it was. Though the ramp is not articulated like a real Land Raider, it still works.

So here is my roadmap to building The Rout. Space Wolves Grey - How to make Pre-Heresy Space Wolves The aim is to create 20 Grey Hunters, m ainly bolters with a few CC Power weapons. Wish me luck.

So the Horus Heresy - Betrayal at Calth has hit. Given it's such a bargain, $500-800 worth of miniatures and game for $150 (not including the FLGS 25% discount), I thought I would grab a copy.   A little problem though. There is currently no Space Wolves legion list. ForgeWorld are coming out with Book VII - Prospero, likely second half of 2016.   Opt for Sons of Horus / Luna Wolves list ? Or wait?   The problem is should I build them as Luna Wolves, and maybe have to swap everything out, late next year?   What to do? What to do? First world problem?         Either way, I think I need to get cracking on making some Legion Grey Hunters, from the old Chaos Warriors and Space Wolf box, right after I finish the Land Raider, hey?

Work on building the Land Raider continues. This time building the turret sponsons.     Now on to magnetizing all of them.

Logan Grimnar kit-bash #6

It has been a long time since I mentioned any progress on Logan. This time I got around to green stuffing the gaps in the Thunderwolf pals.     Stay tuned for more progress.

Work on the assault ramp begins. Starting with building out the rod. Simple enough.    Then moving on to reinforcing the plate which will make up the assault ramp. Sizing it to fit with the Land Raider internals. I will have to work on putting together some teeth and getting that to mesh with the lower door. More to come.

Just a quick one today, showing the scale of the Land Raider build compared to Arjac.   Now to get stuck into the assault ramp.

Adding some internal details. Starting with adding some bolters to the rack, by the entrance.   Now adding in some details to the engine panel. Almost ready to lay down a basecoat on the internals. Just have to sort out the assault ramp.

Up Armoring the chassis continues. First I add a familiar shape back to the chassis.     Before adding to the chassis.      After adding to the chassis.    Adding the final plating and some embellishments       More to come.

Post number 10 on this project. Time to celebrate with a dry-fit picture. You can see the center carapace is fitted and the assault door hung.      Now to finish the bottom half of the hatches, and bridging the panel gaps.

Armoring up the Chassis, well, filling the gaps, actually. Starting with the panel gaps. Now this is very time consuming and tedious process.        The building the bridging between internal openings. .    More to come.

Attaching the outer Land Raider armor to the outer Baneblade armor. First up, grab your tank tracks and clean the flash off them. I found these had a lot of mold lines, such a pain in the ass.    Attach the tracks per the assembly instructions and start attaching the Baneblade external armor panels.   You might have to slap on a rubber band to keep it all together. I found the panels were a little warped and needed the rubber band.   Now remember way back when I added the cuts to the inside of the Land Raider external armor? Probably not, but anyways, trim the rotated front portion of the tunnel flat to the inner panel. Sounds complicated, but essentially you have to do this so it will sit flat with the front section of the external Baneblade armor. The back half of the Land Raider external armor butts up flush, with the cut-out rear Baneblade external armor.   The tricky part is getting the rear internal opening to match up with the external rear opening.
