30k Fluff - The Knights Errant #4

Image
So I heard once that a good artist knows when to finish an artwork. Well I guess I am either a dodgy artist or a pure hobbyist. My Knight Errant is finished, for the time being.  I guess all that is left is to clean up the base edge and maybe add a highlight to the sword edge. You see, I am a hobbyist, just can't leave things alone.

Almost complete on my Knight Errant.  Just some minor details left, like the laurel on the right shoulder pad and I have to finish his backpack, which was ready, but I decided to add an Iron Halo to it, to fit the rules. Should be finished next time I post about him.

My Knight Errant is nearing completion. Just a few pieces to tidy up. Not long now, more to come.

Given I now have Nathaniel Garro, This little fellow will now become my Knight Errant model. I have worked on the sword, the face and started work on the robes. More to come.

30k Fluff - Nathaniel Garro #3

So I kind of hinted that my Garro might end up a bit of a generic Knight Errant, in favor of the real thing. Well you guessed it. I got my hands on the real "Nathaniel Garro". Things being what they are with me, I wasn't the biggest fan of how Libertas was a trailing after thought, so I repositioned the sword arm to take centre stage. The following picture is how I am currently thinking of positioning Garro, looking down Libertas' blade edge. What do you think?

Progress on my take of Garro continues.  Initially I wanted to paint him a Dark German Grey and highlight up, but looking back at the Forgeworld images and listening to the Audio books, it is more apparent that Garro runs in unadorned gunmetal armor. So I switched from a dark grey to the silvered look. Still more to come on this one. Maybe I will play him as a stock Knight Errant with stats from Book 6. Why not play him as Garro, you may ask ? Well that's because I might have the real one coming. Stay tuned.

So Forgeworld has already made their own version of Nathaniel Garro. All round it is a brilliant model, but when I was looking at it I thought I could match the pose of the model using some bitz I had laying about. Digging around I came up with this, below, as my first attempt. Garro did not have a beard, according to the fluff, so I might have to switch that out. I used a Phobos pattern Bolter instead of the Tigrus pattern Bolter. So maybe I will switch these out. More to come.
