Khârn the Bloody. Is this too red? Or not bloody enough?

I got a chance to work on my kit-bash Khârn's base.  After a simple VGA Steel Base coat, I washed all the surfaces with a mixture of Black and sepia Ink. Edge highlighted with some VGA Aluminium. And I also finished off the skin, while I was at it. Some chipping and weathering powders still to come.

Blooming Heck! Just when I go build my own, GW comes out with a new version of Khârn , in plastic! Awesome .. but how did I stack up ? Well below is a picture of GW's new Khârn. Last time I talked about Khârn I was still procrastinating about what to do about the helmet/head.  I did get my hands on an  Exalted Deathbringer and went to town cutting up and modifying the helmet/head. And I had a little issue. The new head didn't fit on the miniature. So what should I do? We'll I do what all kit-bashers do. I build a miniature that will fit the new head. And upon completing that, I will have to get back to the quest to finding a good helmet/head for the original  Khârn miniature. More to come.

And for those folks who were interested in how Khârn is shaping up I gave him the same treatment as Angron. First up the spinning animated gif...  And now the still-shots. Note, I still haven't settled on a helmet, I am waiting for a few parts to be delivered from eBay, before I do any major progress on this bad boy. I will update when the head options come in.

With all the hot weather we've been having, my airbrush was drying out the paint before it got to the miniature. So while this was happening, I thought I would take some time to continue kit-bashing the "top brass" from the World Eaters. And this time I continued with Khârn. I was reading the history of  Khârn and even got sidetracked on Eternal Hunt's recounting of the lore.  Kudos should go to Eternal Hunt, his article was very detailed and inspiring.  Reading through the articles, Eternal Hunt highlighted a few basic iconic things that every depiction of Khârn has: Chain Axe - Gorechild Plasma Pistol. Hair tassles and skulls on the helmet Chains everywhere, but mostly about on the wrists Chest breathing apparatus. Jes Goodwin started the legacy of Khârn with his concept drawing. So given this, I set out to build a version of Khârn based on the Aspiring Deathbringer with Goreaxe. I cut away the lower legs and added Chaos Terminator Lord lo...
