The Unforgiven - Dark Angels #5

Image
I got a chance to get a lot of the work done preparing the bases for the Unforgiven. Twenty (20) of them, in fact. This is the first time I have used cork, instead of just the ballast. After I base coated the bases with Vallejo Polyurethane Primer German Grey, I noticed the cork surface was still very apparent. So I went back and added ballast. Respraying the primer coat. I then went back and made an initial drybrush of Vallejo Game Color Pale Grey Blue. I went back in and drybrushed Vallejo Game Color White, concentrating on the  center "platform" edges. Now I just have to find some time to add clump foliage. More to come on this.

Horus Heresy 30k and the Vlka Fenryka #7

Progress on continues on the Heresy Consul Wolf Priest. Standard base coat of Vallejo Game Air Sombre Grey (apologies on the picture being a little out of focus) A zenithal highlight of Vallejo Game Air Wolf Grey.   Blacklining wash to shade in the armor, followed by a re-highlight of Vallejo Game Color Wolf Grey.   I followed this up with gold/brass detailing. This is my usual formula of Vallejo Game Color Brass, washed back with Vallejo Game Wash Sepia. I also started work on the fur, starting with Vallejo Game Air Rotting Flesh.   I really have to get back in and work out what color I will make his cloak.

Objective Markers #7

Image
Undercoating of the barrels has begun. I will look to do some chipping on this objective marker. So the base layer will be very different to the final top layer. Vallejo Model Air Yellow Ochre over a primer coat of Vallejo Polyurethane Light Grey. Followed this up with a Pre-shade wash of black-lining ink, then heavy coat of Testors Dull Cote varnish, to seal it all in. Then a layer of AK Interactive chipping fluid.    Now to layer on the top coat colours.

Now time for the Unforgiven Sergeants. The Dark Vengeance box set comes with a Sergeant the has a relatively decent pose, however I just had to tweak it a little and give them more of a traitor-esque feel. Here is the initial pose side-by-side with the first tweaked version.   A Chaos Beserker plasma pistol and power maul instead of the original plasma pistol and chainsword. The head swap was mandatory, coming from the Dark Angels Command squad. The plasma pistol will eventually play as a Volkite Charger. I will have to fill the shoulder gap on the power maul arm. For the next sergeant, I swapped the chainsword for a power sword and the head swapped out for another cowled command squad head. I am still trying to work through what to do with the plasma pistol. Not quite sure, yet.   More to come, when I work out the load out and get them to the spray booth.

Time to hit the spray booth. I start with a primer coat of Vallejo German Grey. Followed by a base coat of Vallejo Game Air Dark Green followed by a zenithal highlight of Vallejo Game Extra Opaque Heavy Black Green. Adding a little Blacklining wash to define the panel lines. Adding Vallejo Game Air Wolf Grey to the chest and shoulder details. Base coating the red details  with Vallejo Game Extra Opaque Heavy Red. Final edge highlight with Vallejo Game Air Sick Green. Secret Weapon Blue-black wash the shade the chest details Dry fitting the weapons. More to come.
